Sufjan Stevens - To Be Alone With You |

Ryan and I recorded an album in high school. On a whim we called it 'Electric Jesus'. It wasn't very 'good', but it was fun.
I finally uploaded the whole thing tonight. I'm kind of embarresed by some of it. But it's fun. Here's a gift from me to you.

mewithoutYou - Torches Together |
] |
last night i went to the mewithoutYou/Blood Brothers show at the UofI. it was fantastic, and free.
when we got there we sat out side the doors for a while, then i called the sound guy and i went back and hung out back stage for a while. that was pretty lame. i'm at the point now where i don't really get star struck unless it's someone absolutely revolutionary. the Blood Brothers are fembots and i told the sound guys that i thought they were cute. the look they gave me was funny.
mewithoutYou played first and we were front row center for it. i was dancing and singing (not so much the lyrics) and just having a good time with my Jesus and working through some things when Aaron started to tell us a story. Aaron Weiss leads throat functions and he's a very nice man. he was embarrassed of his lovely green shirt that he had found in a trash a few days ago in some distant town so between songs i shouted at him. i told him that i would trade shirts with him if he wanted and he made sure i was serious and then, we did the deed. the thing i liked most about this trade was that he came close and crouched between the monitors and changed. i like what that says about his heart.
after their set i went backstage and talked with him for a few minutes and we had a lovely conversation. we talked about zombies (briefly, his new shirt had been worn in a zombie movie), mud work and ministry. he seemed like he wanted to talk about me, which was nice. i feel so insignificant sometimes and i've stopped buying into rockstar status so he helped me deal with both of those.
after our chat i went back out front and danced to the Blood Brothers. i was throwing my arms and twirling around when the next thing i know, two girls are dancing right by me. that was a little strange. but not too weird. i was just sure not to get too close. (the whole cootie thing going around right now) i think they liked not being the only ones dancing. i know i liked it. Sophie threw down some good moves, and the ever lovely Zach did the same.
"On the front it's got a dragon, and over here we've got a surfboard. And it's all wrapped in like razor blades. Oh, and there's a skull. But the sleeves..." Aaron Weiss i don't think he saw the inside of it though. that's my favourite.

| Dear digital family, |
[24 Sep 2005|08:11pm] |
i've set up a show.
Tera Melos backed out. they ran out of money. i offered to double what they were getting but i'm still not sure they'll be here. there's a possibility of a band from Spokane coming down, but i haven't heard back.
it's going to be a good show. if we can't get the Spokane kids it's going to be a free show and i'm going to buy food for everyone. if we get the Spokane band it'll be $1 and i still might scrounge money for food.
i could use some serious prayer. this is stressing me out more than it should.
thanks friends.

Dani threw me a birthday party! i was bummed about not getting one, and then she threw me a freakin' party! even though i already had one! damn, my girl's good.
also, thanks to everyone who came out to the shows. sorry both of the out of town bands couldn't make it. BotM's drummer left the band and Baby Calendar's van broke down somewhere in Wyoming. i think everything still went well though. i patted out 42 moose patties (donated by the always amazing Dani) and we went through all of them.
next show, any and all of you are welcome to crash at my house if you come down/over/up for it. promise. we love company and we love you.
